Beelzebub Hamiltonian Fly, BHF, who made the Hamiltonian path over Shakuhachi Unzen's body covered with Black Mus­tard seed oil, massaged by the Yellow Pearl herself on the teakwood deck of the Teahouse of Necessity in the flowering bamboo of the year of the wood tigress--it could have been 1854--in the glorious land of the West dedicated to the White Goddess as "California," Lady of the Impossible Dream, rMilam, third yoga (after tummo and maya in the tradition of Tilopa). Centered in the kitchen of the Teahouse was the maelstrom of taste mandala coalescing into Early California Cuisine, as the extraordinary child of the two most exquisitely complex and sophisticated kitchens the world has perhaps ever enjoyed: those of Imperial China and Nahuatl Mexico, La Cocina China Poblana, before its debasement by the Taco stands of the southwest and the machined tortilla. BHF zoomed as the Venerable, oldest living fly, the Lord if one will, on the premises. The frog, we might have guessed, was a Toad--requiring but a silent "e" to be an anagram of Taoed.

BHF deserves a personalized introduction, like St. Puce, the flea under the armpit of Christ as He hung on the Cross: the first communicant. BHF is the first to pass through the Black Hole of the inner man, after tracing all-but a Hamil­tonian path over the surface of Shakuhachi Unzen's oil-smeared body, circling the rim of his anus, and then, inexoribly tracing the one path remaining to him not as yet fly-trodden, which circles the rim of his lips, puka, eye of the needle. The secret to the recipe is not so much that SU eats the fly, but that the oil soaked up on the fly's feet contained some of the original Balm of Gilead, THE Ointment kept in the pyxis by Mary Magdalene, the Scarlet Lady #667 who rides upon the Great Beast said to be Mr. GOLD, living up by the Big Bear Lake. In the North, ursus is the Great Beast, the polar bear WHITE being the mammal whose ferocity prompts him or her to hunt human flesh. In the arctic one hunts a polar bear by building a fire and waiting, with a rifle or rosary of meditation trained on the down-wind direction.
