Four Pages from a Notebook - May 1996 

Among the numerous and myriad references indicated on these four successive notebook pages are: Kurt’s alter-ego Jose Que, Fire, Lavoissier's cloud of reason, What is religion, Francisco of Assisi, The Egyptian Black Cat Sekhmet, Royal totems, Queens, The Sutra of the Golden Light, Sustainability, Cannabis, The Bacchae, Johnnycakes, Kachinas, Dance, The Belt of Orion, and Hymns to Kali. Keep in mind (Kurt did!) that these notes document his spontaneous contemplation; he not only kept notes this way, but while lounging on the veranda this is precisely the way he would often speak. It was all of a piece to Kurt; the mysteries made sense.
